Location - Where is Shelter Bay Charter's dock located?

Shelter Bay Charter's dock is located on Lake Superior's southern shoreline between Munising and Marquette, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We are 19 miles west of Munisng, 8 miles west of Au Train, or 25 miles east of Marquette, Michigan.

Fishing License - Do I need a fishing license?

Yes, if you are 17 years of age or older, Michigan law requires that each person fishing in Michigan waters must possess a valid fishing license, whether that be a seasonal license or a one-day license.

Please visit Regulations & Permits for license providers in our area or to search for license providers in your area.

Why do a charter?

The best opportunities for a successful sport fishing adventure or a tour of the local shoreline will be had with a charter service. Your Captain will be able to take you to the hottest fishing spots, take care of providing the fishing poles, lines, the right tackle, down riggers, fish plotting equipment and radar. He'll take care of maintaining the boat in tip-top shape, having the safety equipment on board, and have years of experience in navigating the fierce waters of Lake Superior. All joking aside, if Superior changes its temperment when you out there some 20 miles from shore, you'll thank your higher power for the experience Captain Mitch possesses. And while you're fishing, your Captain will be minding the waters, keeping you on course, and working his tail off to make sure your trip is successful and fun.

What is provided by Shelter Bay Charter's?

Shelter Bay Charter's provides all of the fishing equipment, including more jigs and spoons than available at the local hardware store; all of technical equipment, including radar, GPS, depth finder, fish plotter, and safety equipment. We are always ready to leave on time, or as soon as your entire party has arrived. Our boat is always clean and in excellent repair and we clean your fish upon return, take a picture for you of your day's catch and fishing party and... as always... give you our best efforts in making your trip a trip to remember!
